How to Choose Thermal Insulation Coatings?
More than 95% of thermal insulation layer failures are caused by moisture and water absorption. Many of our followers have messaged us asking how to choose the right thermal insulation materials. Factors such as temperature, material selection, project duration, maintenance, and under-insulation corrosion are deeply ingrained in my experience over the past decade. Here are five key aspects to consider when selecting thermal insulation materials:
1. Adaptability to the Environment
If the operating temperature is 300°C, you should choose a material that can withstand at least 500°C.
2. Thermal Conductivity
The lower the thermal conductivity, the better the heat resistance. Thermal conductivity is a crucial parameter in evaluating insulation performance.
3. Corrosion Resistance
Since insulation materials are often exposed to corrosive environments for extended periods, selecting a material with excellent corrosion resistance is essential for long-term protection.
4. Mechanical Strength
Insulation materials must possess adequate mechanical properties to withstand external forces during use.
5. Cost Considerations
Prices vary significantly between different insulation materials. Choosing the right material should be based on both technical requirements and budget constraints.
