Poor Powder Atomization

Damn…

this textured powder coat looks like a wasp nest —

ugly as hell!

Don’t panic.

Check these four areas right away, and you’ll fix it in no time.

Tip 1: Check the spray gun.

If the powder atomization isn’t good, the powder will shoot out in bursts instead of evenly —no wonder it’s piling up!Adjust it immediately, and if you can’t get it right, swap the gun.

Tip 2: Check the powder itself.

If the powder has inconsistent particle sizes —some coarse, some fine —it won’t fluidize properly, and the spray will definitely pile up.Talk to your supplier about that ASAP.

Tip 3: Add a secret weapon —

a texture anti-powder-build additive. It works wonders for poor fluidization, and helps the powder flow smoothly.

Tip 4: Check grounding.

If your workpiece isn’t conducting well, the static charge won’t release, and the powder will cling and pile up.Grind the hangers clean, and make sure the grounding is solid.Of course, a good spray gun, makes achieving a great finish much easier.

Gun, powder, additive, grounding —

check them in this order, and you’ll hit the problem every time.Like and save this post — next time your powder piles up,just pull this video out and follow along. What other weird powder coating problems have you run into?
