Market Analysis
Japan is a highly developed industrialized country known for its large automotive manufacturers, shipbuilding, and technology companies. Many Western countries have adopted Japan’s successful manufacturing philosophy. These growing industries have significant demand for coatings, which has resulted in a large coatings market in Japan. The Japanese coatings market is valued at approximately 5.2 billion euros, ranking second in Asia, after China. In terms of volume, Japan ranks third after China and India, with an annual production of 1.674 million tons. As in many other countries, the construction market is a key consumer of paints and coatings. Japan's strong automotive industry is also a major consumer of coatings. According to Japanese customs statistics, Japan's bilateral goods import and export value with China is 47.5 billion USD, a decrease of 5.2%. Among them, Japan imported 28.39 billion USD from China, a decrease of 4.3%, accounting for 23.9% of Japan's total imports, a decrease of 0.1 percentage points. According to a survey by Yingtuo, as of February 2019, China is Japan's second-largest export partner and a major import partner.
