Silver Primer Causing Bubbles? Stop Falling into This Trap!
Did you know?
Bubbling after painting might be caused by the one step you never paid attention to!
A client called us saying: “The paint is bubbling after spraying!”
We rushed to the site to check the issue.
This time, the problem was very typical:
They used silver primer + silicone-based high-temperature topcoat, resistant to 300°C — the materials seemed fine.
But after spraying — massive bubbling on the surface!
Our analysis revealed:
The spray distance was too far during silver primer application, resulting in a dry-spray effect Particles scattered, creating a loose and porous surface, with tiny holes clearly visible Without sanding or sealing, applying the next coat directly caused inevitable bubbling!
This is similar to inorganic zinc-rich primers, which also tend to form structural bubbles.
So what’s the fix?
The standard solution is applying a sealing primer, but that adds extra steps and cost.
Our solution?
We adjusted the coating system:
Replaced silver powder with a silver-colored topcoat
Switched the primer to grey-white silicone anticorrosive primer
Problem solved in one step — smooth spraying, and a very happy client!
