Dust Contamination (Dirt - Bits)
This contamination is due to visible dust particles embedded in the coating or forming raised spots.
Causes
1. Inadequate cleaning of the object after sanding.
2. Improper work clothing that leaves dust or fibers.
3. Dust problems in the spray booth, such as dirty or leaking filters, incorrect pressure balance, or inadequate air filtration.
Prevention
Contamination can be effectively prevented by maintaining cleanliness. The objects to be painted must be carefully cleaned. Spray booth maintenance and filter replacement are essential. Spray guns must remain clean.
Repair
Slight dust contamination can be sanded with P1200-2000 sandpaper, followed by fine polishing paste/cutting compound, and finished with high-gloss polish (silicone-free). Larger marks require sanding and refinishing.
