Industrial Contamination (Staining - Discoloration - Lime Marking)

The coating surface is corroded or discolored by industrial waste gases, resins, petrol, or chemicals, which in severe cases, destroy the coating layer.

Causes

1. In cases of discoloration caused by tar, components migrate into the paint surface, leaving brownish-black spots.

2. Industrial waste gases, chemicals, or tar penetrate the coating surface and react chemically with pigments (e.g., acid reactions), leading to discoloration.

3. Corrosive substances such as resins, petrol, and bird lime attack the paintwork. The longer the exposure, the worse the corrosion, leading to decomposition and destruction of the coating.

Prevention

To avoid contamination, the vehicle should be cleaned frequently and maintained with a high-gloss polish or protective wax.

Repair

Minor discoloration can be removed using fine polishing paste or high-gloss cleaner/polish (silicone-free). Severe cases require sanding down the affected coating and refinishing.
